Church camp questions

Start with these answers, then explore our parent guides for planning checklists and comparisons.

How are camps added to the directory?
Each listing links to official sources for the camp’s location and youth programs. We add camps after reviewing those sources and label details we have not confirmed. Check current dates, prices, and eligibility with the camp before registering.
Do you take a commission from camps?
ChurchCamps does not take a commission on a parent’s registration. Camps can request a clearly labeled Featured placement. We agree on the placement, timing, and price before payment, and payment never changes CampFactor points or organic order.
Can I register my child here?
No. We are not the camp. Use the official site link on each profile.
Why do some California camps say “church group”?
Some youth programs organize reservations through churches or youth leaders. Forest Home’s youth page invites group registration; Hume’s options vary by program. Read the exact session’s official instructions before assuming a family can book directly.
How do I choose between day camp and overnight camp?
Consider your child’s interest in camp, comfort with nights away, session length, travel, daily schedule, and your family’s budget. Confirm the format for the exact session on the camp’s official site.
Are all camps in the directory Christian?
Listings need official evidence of a Christian affiliation or program. Faith practices and beliefs still vary, so read the camp’s own mission, beliefs, and session details.
Does a listing mean the camp is open this summer?
No. Programs, dates, and availability can change. Check the official camp site and contact the camp before making plans or paying.
Does ChurchCamps certify camp safety?
No. We publish source-backed directory information, not safety certifications. Ask the camp directly about staff practices, supervision, policies, accreditation, and the needs of your child.
What does an unknown field mean?
It means the reviewed official sources did not clearly support that detail. Unknown does not mean no; it means you should confirm the answer with the camp.
Are prices shown on every profile?
No. Prices can vary by session and change over time. Use the camp’s official registration page for current charges, payment dates, and refund terms.
What is CampFactor?
CampFactor is an evidence-based editorial score shown only when the published criteria have enough verified support. A missing score is not a negative rating.
Does Featured placement improve CampFactor or organic order?
No. Featured placement is labeled advertising. Payment does not add CampFactor points or change the directory’s organic order.
Can I browse camps near me?
Use the state directory to find camps by physical location, then check travel time and the current campus address on the official site.
How do I suggest a missing camp or correction?
Send the camp name, official site, physical location, and the detail that needs review to hello@churchcamps.com. We verify official sources before changing a listing.

Have a correction? Email hello@churchcamps.com with the official source.
